Close the door!

It's been a long time since I wrote something...It's not that there was nothing to write, it just didn't happen...no point thinking, "why ?" , now. :-)
But am glad, am writing today and guess what?, this blog post is triggered by a quotable quote I just read, almost an hour back. You really never know what will actually prompt you to write, like i never knew i will write this post but here I am! :-)

Anyway let me come to the point of view that I am about to share.

This morning while I was just flipping through my FB page on my mobile, I came across a quote by Paulo Coelho that said, "Close some doors today. Not because of pride, incapacity or arrogance but simply because they lead you no where."
This quote struck me so well that I could decipher the truth in it.It is indeed a meaningful thought, a meaningful advice and to a greater extent I can now relate it to my teaching experience as well as to real life- as we call it.

I have this habit ( most of us have) of closing the door as soon as I get inside a class and if someone enters  in between my class and leaves the door open, I feel uneasy until I go and close the door or ask someone to do so. In fact the whole class experiences unnecessary disturbance and discomfort because of that. When I say this I don't disapprove the case when someone teaches with the door open.It is possible but I find it unsettling. Apart from this, after reading Paulo Coelho's quote, I feel it has a symbolic meaning too.- When you are inside a class, the door to the outside world is supposed to be closed. At that moment we must fully concentrate inside the class. And trust me, leaving the door open is distracting indeed. :-)

Similarly , you will agree , all of us have this habit of closing the door as we leave and enter our house. Why do we do so?-Yes, ofcourse for safety reasons! But let's try to see this from another angle. At any point of time we are always at one side of the closed door.-Either outside of it or inside.

If you look at the higher meaning behind all of this, it is always better to keep the door closed and take a side to ensure peace of mind. The same thing applies to our minds as well. Inside the mind , we move in and out of thought loops. We can only concentrate on a thought if we are fully into it and we can only get rid of a thought if we are completely out of it.Hence, closing the door is indeed important.-That's what I strongly feel.

But I also know, in some cases, it's easier said than done.Sometimes we get so stuck up in a loop of thought that it's really hard to decide whether to stay in or get out of it...We always know 'Peace of mind' is just one decision away, but it's not that easy. Nevertheless, all we ever want is to "Close the door" and "Take a side"... but it's not that easy... :) ...but we must always strive to close the door and take a side. :)

Paulo Coelho's quote is undoubtedly thought-provoking ...

I wish to close the doors, I wish to take a side!
I hope there'll be some light before the next blog post, I write.

Let's close some doors!
