Let's talk some headlines!

Well, March was one month, full of big headlines...! Headlines which shook, stirred and touched us all...Some brought us gloom and some brought back our smiles...It was a completely chaotic and turbulent month...One that made us furious with agony, distress and unanswered questions (Sometimes, it’s really hard to wait for the answers...)-It made us even more curious to understand what was happening...to know why was it happening...Nevertheless, it also made us realize the value of the gift of LIFE!

Let me present my point of view for some of the stories that made headlines for me.

1. The Japan disaster

It was a shocking news! ...Completely heartbreaking...!... All I could understand from the Japan disaster is that, death is inevitable and unpredictable. How and when we are going to die, nobody knows and it’s good for us...certain things are better off unknown...After all, life wouldn’t have any meaning, if everything was known...All those who lost their lives in the disaster accentuated the ultimate truth only for us to understand what is important and what is not...For me, life is more about relationships than any other thing. Let’s focus on building beautiful relationships. I am sure, in doing that, we’ll experience life at its best.

2. The world cup fervour

Yeah, I am completely gripped by the World cup fervour this time. I know it’s way too dramatic...but then life is filmy, isn’t it? :)...and I like that...What I love about cricket and the love for cricket is the energy and the spirit that comes alive while watching the game and the best part is that we all share the sportive spirit, which is remarkable! It is absolutely fantastic to see how a game of cricket brings us to the common ground. I love to see and feel the collective desire to win-It’s amazing!

I am eagerly waiting to experience the moment when TEAM INDIA will hold the World cup winners trophy in Wankhede stadium today :)

3. I got a job!

Yes! I am placed and this time in the textile industry! I hope my FUNemployed days continue even after I join the job. I am happy and satisfied with what I’ve got. Let’s see what’s in store!

Feeling of the day: I feel abundantly blessed!

Thought of the day: “There are things known and things unknown and in between are the doors.”-Jim Morrison

Didi....!

I think, but I can’t explain what is a thought...
I see dreams and wonder of what is and of what is not...

We’ve heard it so often that dreams are products of our subconscious. Be it whatever, dreams undoubtedly add a great deal to the mystery of life. And I have absolutely no idea about the purpose and meaning of dreams. Considering my present state of realization, all I know is that dreams are a part of reality-that’s it. The phenomenon of dreams is way beyond my grasp. Although it is indeed something that leaves me intrigued and puzzled when I wake up, but then the routine takes over and the curiosity fades along with the dream.

However there are few dreams which have left a lasting impression on me and are dearly special. They have touched me in amazingly inexplicable ways...!
One such dream I just saw, some 4-5 days back and I am completely touched by it, so much that the feeling is still intact.

Just to ensure that I never forget it, I feel it’s better to freeze it in words.

So, here I go...

[Note: The dreams that I intend to talk about in this post are the ones we see while sleeping (I wonder who sleeps then? I feel, it’s the chattering part of the mind...?...).]

The dream

I was walking on a pavement, when I spotted a black Labrador lying at a distance and perhaps, as far as I remember, I was out in search of Eskimo (our pet, who was also a black Labrador).

Having spotted a black Labrador, my heart pounded and I became alert in anticipation of the feeling I would experience on identifying Eskimo. I so wished, that this dog be Eskimo and the closer I was getting to him, the keener I was becoming to find ‘my Eskimo’ in him. And you won’t believe, that as I was just about 5 feet away from this being, with a feeling of both hope and fear in equal measure...hope- that this is my Eskimo and fear -of getting mistaken, I witnessed something so bizarrely beautiful that the moment froze then and there. It was when I heard Eskimo calling out for me...
The magic of the moment was that he called me-------------->“Didi...............!” Yes, he did...!It was a breathtaking moment-completely ethereal that in a flash second all my fear vanished and the feeling of uniting with him engulfed the moment-making it absolutely perfect! God!-he spoke...literally!-It was irresistibly endearing!

This dream left me with two thoughts:-

1. May be this was Eskimo’s way of telling me that he still thinks of me and loves me beyond measure-He couldn’t have expressed that any better!

Or

Perhaps it was a deep-rooted longing that surfaced in my dream. But then the question is, 'what is a dream?'. And I don’t want to delve into that because it was a beautiful dream and the wise say that each and every form of TRUTH is beautiful which I like to believe.

2. I somehow feel, there was a hidden message in this dream or you may take it as my interpretation of the dream and that is- Each one of us is busy in finding something or the other –may be what we don’t realize is that whatever we are searching for is also searching for us...

I am inquisitively touched...!

The gift of words

This happens to be the first post of 2011 and I thought why not begin this year with words for words by words which will readily respond to my feelings towards them.

So, this post is wholeheartedly dedicated to WORDS which are one of those beautiful stuffs life is made up of! I can’t imagine life without words. Words have such a great impact on our lives-of all the other good things, they give us expression, which I feel is the best part of life.

Like everything else, words are also available in all sizes, all shades and all colours. Sometimes they annoy us, sometimes they bring us peace. Sometimes they tease us, sometimes they motivate. Sometimes they teach us, sometimes they challenge. Sometimes they question us, sometimes they answer.

With words we experience the phenomenon called life, with words we interpret it, with words we share it, with words we celebrate it. Words form an integral part of our lives. They have their own special place and worth.

Yes , there are words which pollute the atmosphere and shatter lives. But there are also words which bind us together and make our lives. Let us refrain from using bad words and always add good words to our vocabulary.

All of us are blessed with the gift of words-Let us use them well and wisely!

Words are really friendly and I love to play with them! I feel so lively in their company. They may reach you through a book, through a friend, through your family members, through television, through movies, through many such mediums and even through your own conscience. Let us savour them, play with them and last but not the least share them.

I wish you all a happy time with words. May words have a positive influence on your lives!

Happy new year!-happy feelings, happy thoughts and happy words to everyone! :)

Cheers!

Too near or too far?

One moment, I feel I am too near to the path leading to my goal,
It’s when I can feel my soul dancing to the song that best describes my role,
It’s when my inner joy turns me in an ecstatic mode,
It’s when I can feel all my longings disappear, because it seems I am too near to my home.

But…

The other moment, I feel, I am too far away from my goal,
It’s when I feel so lost as life’s signals become so difficult to decode,
It’s when the lurking confusion is hard to ignore,
It’s when I feel a deep urge to get out of this rigmarole,
It’s when my heart longs to find a way to my home, sweet home.

Am I too near or too far?
I am sure, the answer to this question will be revealed to me in a glorious hour,
Till then I will keep moving with hope, courage and a strong will to find my way by using my inner radar.
I am sure, there’ll be a moment in time when it’ll be neither too near nor too far…:)

Life's like that!:)

I had wished to capture one of our Lonavala trips in words, because it is one of the best experiences I have ever had. I am glad for having made an attempt to express my feelings of that trip through this post.

So,here it goes…

One Sunday evening as it was raining moderately outside, each one of us was busy in our own world of preoccupation, basking in the pleasant weather. I was comfortably reading, ‘The art of choosing’; Mamma had just woken up from her siesta; Manu was relaxing, watching TV, when out of the blue Babba proposed his idea of going for a drive to Lonavala. Well, at the outset, it was a tempting idea, but it reminded me of our globetrotting experience on Friday evening, when seriously we all sat together to plan a trip for 3-4 days including the weekend. You won’t imagine we started off with deciding on Goa...then Kerela...then Ooty...then Pune...then Dubai...then Malaysia...Yes, we did a lot of globetrotting -dreaming or you may say we were actually living in our dream and this dreamy adventure lasted for just a couple of hours ending with the decision to relax at home in the weekend .Well, it was an amazing experience. Infact, you know we were really happy with our ultimate decision because we were actually feeling tired after so much of vicarious globetrotting and hopping. Seems, the only reason we couldn’t work our plan out was the incorrect timing!

Coming back to Sunday evening...

So, when I heard Babba proposing this idea, I was not very sure if this would materialize, keeping in mind the Friday experience...but then, within half an hour we were all out on the road...Life is truly unpredictable at times or is it most of the times? It seems, this time we got a green signal from our dear friend TIME, but again who knew it will turn out to be a completely different experience than what we had planned or imagined?

As you know we had set out for a drive to Lonavala with the sole aim of enjoying our drive in such a pleasant weather, some sightseeing accompanied with a tea break in between or on site and had planned to be back home by dinner time. But there was a lot more in store...Yes, even this time our plan didn’t work fully...but God’s plan did as always and it turned out to be a dazzling adventure.

Our drive to Lonavala was simply majestic! We drove with rain splashing all over, amidst the lush green surroundings, listening to nostalgic songs along the way and switching over to radio in between. Truly revelled to our heart’s content. It was lovely, especially because all four of us were together after a long time.

But as soon as we stepped into Lonavala, we got stuck up in a traffic jam, that seemed never ending and thunderous heavy rains, that it felt impossible to go back to Mumbai .So, we decided to stay back at Lonavala over night. First we got lost in that traffic, came back to the same spot from where we had started, but then, we could take the lane which was earlier closed when we first came at this point. As we treaded on this path, we went higher and higher up the hill with no signboard of any resort or hotel. It was already night and at times we were the only ones on the way. All through the way, the journey was pleasant, but now our excitement had dropped a little as we didn’t know if we would be able to find some place to rest for the night or we’ll have to go back down the same route. As we were all together, we were not worrying, but were anxious as to where will we end up? Finally we saw a signboard of ‘Upavan’ resort and we followed it, but in between we saw another resort named, ‘Cloud 9’ and just drove through its gate in respite; quickly went to the reception; took a cottage for the night. It was raining heavily at that time and the people at the reception appeared lousy from their behaviour. They said there’s no room service facility and we’ll have to come over to the reception for dinner. I somehow didn’t feel at ease in the beginning, but as we entered the cottage, got a nice feeling. Then a helper boy came from the reception and we requested him to get tea and dinner to the room. Finally Manu (my brother) went along with him and they got everything to the room. That was really nice and we could feel the kind hospitality. Then suddenly the lights went off. It was a very silent place. Babba was overwhelmed with the experience as it reminded him of his days spent in the forest rest houses. This place was inhabited by moths and they were catching fancy of my parents as it brought alive their nostalgic past and suddenly they started talking about nature and its vivid exhibition (I was silently listening to their Nature-talk, pondering why there is so much of disconnect between nature and our generation?...All our parents are so well versed with Nature and its offerings…). In the mean time, tea and dinner arrived and soon came the manager and the light. Tea was very refreshing and the dinner was so satiating. We loved having it and then decided to go to sleep as it had already been a very adventurous day. Both Babba-mamma asked us to listen to the sound of nature. I could hear the crickets and God knows all strange- strange sounds which were not at all strange to my parents…and so the night fell on us till we woke up to a beautiful rainy day. It was early in the morning and we set out for a morning walk. Walked in the rain amidst the lush greens, felt the freshness on our faces, couldn’t stop admiring the beauty of our mother nature. It was a breathtaking experience…an experience that touched us, inspired us and reminded us that life is a precious, beautiful gift to the soul which must be savoured to the fullest. I have to admit, it was a thrilling experience and I loved it on the whole.

Life’s like that, isn’t it? And no matter what happens, let’s re-affirm that everything happens for a reason and happens for the best. There are times when you have to wait for a long long time to get an answer and times when the answer appears even before you consciously frame the question. Undoubtedly, there is an answer for everything under the sun…but everything evolves in its own sweet time. So, let us entrust full faith in life and may this faith become stronger and stronger with each passing day! Amen.

That’s the way-NaniWay!:)

These days I am lucky enough to enjoy my Nani’s company. Her presence, I tell you, is so comforting, amazingly inspiring, full of motherly warmth and simplicity. Every word uttered by her speaks WISDOM. Every act of hers reflects LOVE &GRACE. Her life exemplifies the significance of TOLERANCE, FORTITUDE, RESPECT, ENTHUSIASM and FAITH. Her way of life is PEACE &SIMPLICITY.

Whenever I am with her, I realize that life is made up of moments; those moments which are spent for and with our loved ones. We are here to live together through thick and thin, joys and sorrows, success and failure, trials and triumphs. We are here to celebrate our togetherness which can only be done by first of all accepting and understanding each other.

And then what I find most inspiring is her lively and fearless SPIRIT. At her age, it is truly inspiring! An 82 year old lady, who has lost her eldest son and recently her husband, is as strong and confident as Strength and Confidence can ever be perceived! She is a  Living Goddess for me! Enjoys every moment to the fullest. She has no complaints and her unconditional love for life is worth seeing and highly inspiring!

You know, I feel so great to see her in such a good physical and mental state at this age. She is perfectly fit! I admire the fact that she still leads an active life.Yes, to a great extent it is a result of living in a place like Almora-which is so pristine –It is indeed a Nature’s paradise! But to a greater extent it is the result of her WILL, DETERMINATION and LOYALTY towards LIFE! Her way of life personifies her love for life which is so unconditional and pure!

You know, somehow I feel growing old is a choice. You can grow older in age yet remain as young as ever or you can grow old even when you are young at age! The choice is yours!

My Nani is beautiful inside and out! She is a perfect blend of tradition and modernity.

It’s truly said; those who live for others live forever! May her kind increase! She’s the best!

I wish to follow my NaniWay! ...because that’s the way-NaniWay!!! :)

Obscure Sadness

There are times when I feel so low,

the reasons behind it I clearly don’t know or may be, I just don’t want to admit so.

Because somewhere deep down inside I myself know that succumbing to the situation is like becoming your own foe.

God! I long to get rid of this woe.

And I also know that the only way out to fight this feeling is by persistently saying NO,NO and NO!

It does seem long and slow at times,

but the effort is worth discovering a thousand gold mines.

I hope and wish to forever remember these golden lines.

Don’t you feel, sometimes life appears to test your patience and integrity?

Let’s be ready to face it as it comes by first of all accepting this nature of reality.
